Design & Patternmaking (Level 3)

The aim of the program:

This Programme has been designed in consultation with the Apparel Industry Training organisation (ATITO) and the apparel industry. It introduces the student to the skills required to create and manipulate pattern blocks to produce a garment pattern. With these skills the student will be able to design and create their own garment to industry standard.

As part of this course we actively encourage students to participate in industry fashion events. In both 2007 and 2008 students from DAS Trainng Solutions received awards in the Villa Maria Cult Couture fashion event.

What our students say...

Jody Hingston

As a child I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer.  However, plans change, and I ended up working within the airline industry. DAS Training Solutions has helped me rediscover that dream.

I started my training with Garment Construction (sewing) which has been invaluable in helping me understand the fundamental principles of clothing construction.  Now I am learning about pattern making which touches more on the design aspect which I thoroughly enjoy.

The tutors are terrific with their experience and industry knowledge and are very accommodating when it comes to one on one attention.  I really enjoy the ‘learn at your pace’ aspect of the course as I can study around my busy schedule.  My confidence and understanding of the industry has grown 10 fold and I can’t wait to use my new found skills and knowledge to help realise my dream...

... and from the student feedback forms:

"I had no interest in fashion design when I started with the sewing course but I just got hooked. This course was a natural choice for me - I'm now designing my own clothing line and am looking at what to do next - Roll on AUT!..."

"Being surrounded by positive and encouraging staff and students is amazing. I love the way students are encouraged to take part in the fashion competitions. Why would you study anywhere else?..."

"Taking this course has got me one step ahead of the rest and has also given me the skills to become a fashion designer..."

"I have been taking so many courses in the past - still its not what I wanted. That was until I came to the DAS class and I realised I'm in the right place, and it motivates me to go further and to learn more.... "

"My passion of creating and making my own fashions are being met by this course and I'm loving every minute of it. I would very happily recommend it to friends and family..."
