Auckland Region is divided in to 4 cities, Auckland City, Manukua City, Waitakere City and North Shore City. It is bordered to the south by Papakura and Franklin Districts and to the north by Rodney District.

Auckland City

alkAuckland is a place to enjoy urban culture, with food and fashion to captivate your senses. It's a marine environment with idyllic islands that invite you to kick back and relax. It's also a geographical wonder, with 48 volcanic cones and two ancient rain forested mountain ranges. There's huge scope for fun in every direction.

Manukau City

manManukau is a haven for visitors. The third-largest city of New Zealand, Manukau offers vibrant shopping, diverse cuisine in innumerable cafes and restaurants, exciting markets, New Zealand's only theme park and recreation facilities galore.

But Manukau is not just an urban utopia. It's also rural rapture. Our 320 kilometres of coastline stretch from the wild and rugged in the west to Pohutukawa-fringed in the east. To the south the magnificent Hunua Ranges with their forests, lakes and waterfalls provide a dramatic backdrop to the gently rolling farmlands of Clevedon.

It is thus fitting that Manukau is the springboard to the famous Pacific Coast Highway - a scenic driving route through spectacular countryside leading to the Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Napier.

North Shore City

nscityNew Zealand's fourth largest city in New Zealand with an area of approximately 12,979 hectares. North Shore City boasts a lifestyle and environment that set it apart as a destination for homemakers, pleasure-seekers and business people. The natural advantages of a warm climate, beautiful beaches, and spectacular scenery contribute to the popularity of one of the most vibrant and fastest growing regions in New Zealand. A stable and educated workforce, meanwhile, make it a prime location for commercial and industrial development.

Surrounded by sea, the city has an unbroken 140km urban coastline. Residents can enjoy an endless range of aquatic activities - or venture inland, where there are more than 400 parks and walkways through native bush reserves. This is a city where growth and development is carefully managed and protection of natural beauty and a clean environment is a prime consideration.

Rodney District

rodneyRodney District was constituted in 1989 as part of Local Government reform throughout New Zealand at that time. The principal effect of the reform in this case was the amalgamation of the former Helensville Borough with the former Rodney County.

Rodney District appears to have taken it's name from Cape Rodney, a headland at the north of the curve of Omaha Bay, 2km north-east of Leigh on the east coast of the District.  The cape was named by Captain James Cook, on 24 November 1769, after the British admiral, Sir George Bridges Rodney (1719-92), later the 1st Baron Rodney, who won several important naval battles against French, Spanish, and Dutch forces.
